Which brings me to the '50 Books in a Year" challenge. When I used to blog on LiveJournal, this used to be very popular. So, in my desperation to join a challenge, I did a search around the Internet and couldn't find any other blogs that host it. I decided to start my own, and I hope some people join in.
1. The goal of this challenge is to read 50 books within 365 days. Very reasonable, no?
2. Anyone can join in. You can enter your name in Mister Linky below or leave a comment-- whatever you like.
3. Everything counts: any genre, eBooks, AudioBooks, re-reads, textbooks, books read for other challenges.... As long as it exists and you read it, it works! (Essays, single short stories, etc. do not count, obviously.)
4. Challenge begins on January 1st, 2011 and ends on December 31st. Books read before or after do not count.
5. You do not have to make a list and stick to it. Go ahead and make a list if you like, of course, but you don't have to stick to it.
6. When you share your links, please share the link to your challenge post.
I've also made a smaller banner if anyone wants to link it on their sidebar or something:
Hope you guys join in. Enjoy!
I joined the challenge and I am a new follower :)

ReplyDeletethis year will be great!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in, guys! <3
ReplyDeleteI am doing "almost" the same thing. Except I am a part of the challenge called "52 books in 52 weeks" over on Ravelry.com. I also keep a list on my blog. I combine my list with audiobooks and ebooks so I can read faster. Audiobooks goes faster as I listen to them in the night inside the bed ^_^
ReplyDeleteSo far the hardest part for me is to decide which one to read next :)
Added you both on goodreads and google reader by the way.
Oh, I think I remember seeing that on Ravelry. Thanks for the adds, btw, and I'm following you back on both Blogger and GoodReads =)
ReplyDeleteI think I can do this without a problem. My problem is usually remembering to review the books after reading them :-P
ReplyDeleteHehe well thanks for joining!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to try this! I've actually never done anything like this before, I mean sure I used to read a ton when I was little and my sisters and I would get prizes for doing so, but its been many years since then!
ReplyDeleteSorry I didn't put my last initial, apparently somebody else had the same name so it looks like I signed up twice, I'm the first one. That and I messed up my website url, I copied the other Victoria after I edited my profile, but I wasn't sure if that was right so my url doesn't lead you anywhere. I didn't know what it meant by url I actually don't have one though.
ReplyDeleteOh, I became a follower too, by the way.
ReplyDeleteNo problem! It's my first time using the linky anyway, I'm just glad it worked =) And thanks a lot for the follow; I'll be following your blog as well!
ReplyDeleteHow can I link the picture of the girl reading with the 50 books in a year 2011 across it on my blog??
ReplyDeleteNever mind! Sorry I just found out how to do it! Now people can click on the picture and be linked to this page!
ReplyDeleteMy friend showed me this website and I think it's pretty cool

ReplyDeleteVic: I'm sorry I saw your comment so late, and I'm glad you figured it out. Thanks for linking back!
ReplyDeleteAlexandra: Thank you! I'm glad you like it.
That's alright, but I have another question, how did you put that countdown on your website? I wanted to make a countdown for the day when I (hopefully) finish my novel.
ReplyDeleteI used the NaNoWriMo countdown thingy which you can find here: http://www.languageisavirus.com/nanowrimo/word-meter.html
ReplyDeleteI just changed the words and numbers within the code.
Thanks so much! By the way, for the Mr. Linky thing here is the link for anyone who was curious about why my link doesn't lead you to a legit challenge post; http://nanowrimos.blogspot.com/p/50-books-in-year.html
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I found the site, created the counter, but when I tried to put it on my site by clicking add my own gadget it told me it contained illegal characters. What should I do? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhere exactly did you put it? I copied the code into a HTML/JavaScript gadget from the Blogger Design page. IF you did this and it still said illegal characters, you might have deleted or added a character while editing the code or something... If it still doesn't work, you can e-mail me at neurotoxicdoll@gmail.com and I can send you my code, highlighting what I changed in it.
ReplyDeleteJust joined! ^_^ Will be adding the banner on my sidebar in a short while!
ReplyDeleteI joined the challenge too :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Happy reading!

ReplyDeleteBaya bi geç kalmışım bu challenge için. 2012'de yapmak istiyorum inşallah :))
Sayılır tabii, niye sayılmasın? Ben iş için okumam gerekenleri sayıyorum :D
ReplyDeleteWondering if you are going to be doing this challenge for next year as well again?
ReplyDeleteYes, I will! :) Even though I haven't been able to get to 50 for the past 2 years.
